Buying for Dads can be on the Short List for Most Difficult Family Tasks - Here are some tips

Author: Corinna Moffitt

For some reason or should I say many reasons, dads are very difficult to buy for. This does not seem to change, Granddads are also very difficult to buy for. So what's the solution?

I can hear the familiar cry of socks & undies, after shave and soap or of course there is always the tie. Now come on, we are a modern, intelligent and creative society surely we can do better. One look in your dads or granddads bottom draw and the selection of past unopened gifts such as previously mentioned will confirm, this years traditional gifts are in desperate need of change.

Now what does that special man like? No you can't gift wrap a carton of beer or a sports magazine, but hey we might be on the right track. The secret to the successful gift is made up of two main ingredients. Firstly identifying what is true and dear to that person, and secondly taking that idea and personalizing it into the perfect gift. For example many dads/granddads love sports, they may play sports themselves now or in the past. Alternatively they may have sons or daughters, grandsons or granddaughters that play a sport that they have a particular interest in. Other areas are interests or hobbies, theses include things like golf and fishing, or maybe photography, music or gardening. The list goes on but I'm sure your getting the general idea. Now step one is to pick the subject.

Next step is photos, past, present or future. You will need some suitable pics from your subject choice of things like dad fishing by the river or proudly holding up that catch of a lifetime. Maybe its in his younger days standing proudly with his A-grade team having just won their grand final, or as couch with his sons football team. It could be his home and award winning garden or that photo of him playing the guitar. Maybe its just that great family shot on holiday at the beach. Every ones father or grandfather is individual in their own way but they will all have things in their life that they particularly love. (If you don't have a photo, grab a digital or good film camera and start snapping away).

There are many products available where photos are used to create personalised gifts. Things like black and white photo reproductions printed onto canvas and framed in a modern box frame style can turn a past event into modern day dcor and symbolise the significance of the event in a stylish and elegant way. Other products that will turn heads and win you brownie points for months to come are things like photos reproduced onto cushions, carry bags or wine bags. Another fantastic and affordable idea to find that exclusive gift is to have your photo treated by a graphic artist to create a painted effect that can be printed onto canvas and presented as if you had commissioned an artist to paint the occasion.

So now you have the perfect gift solution, no more boring socks & undies for your Dad or Grandad, and bonus you will be the bearer of the Best Gift Ever.
