Credit Card Debt - the Light at the End of the Tunnel

Author: Gary Tomlinson

One of the most common situations that the average person of today finds themselves in is credit card debt.

This means that the horrible feeling when you open the mail, the anxious thoughts when the phone rings, the general anxiety whenever your thoughts turn to money, is unfortunately all a result of credit card debt.

When you consider that the average American family owes over $8000 in credit card debt you will realise that credit card debt is becoming more and more of a concern for more and more people and there has been a massive increase over the last few years.

It seems that the reason more people are getting into credit card debt is that it is now so easy to go out and use your credit card for anything you want. In our parents days they knew that if they wanted something they would have to set aside some money each week or month and save up. If they did not have the money they would not buy it. simple as that.

This raises the question, even though they could not go out and buy anything they wanted did that make them not as happy as we are now?, I don't think so.

So, how do we get out of credit card debt. The most obvious advise would be to cut up all of your credit cards but that is easier said than done. If you have numerous cards it is a good idea to try and get rid of at least a few of them so your debt is only on say two cards. This will make it far easier to manage the credit card debt.

Also try and use cash whenever possible, sometimes when you make a credit card purchase it is far to easy not to realise the full value of money, you might also find that you can actually do without some of the things that cause the credit card debt in the first place.
